The NFL mourns the loss of a true giant
The National Football League has lost one of its most respected voices and fiercest competitors: Nick Mangold, the longtime New York Jets center who passed away earlier this week. For years, Mangold embodied strength, loyalty, and unshakable leadership — both on and off the field.

“Nick never stopped being a leader,” Stroud continued. “Even in retirement, he cared about the next generation. He’d send me text messages before big games — simple stuff like, ‘Protect your peace. Play your purpose.’ Those words meant the world to me.”
After hearing of Mangold’s passing, Stroud reportedly gathered his teammates for an impromptu prayer session at the Texans’ facility, dedicating their next game to Mangold’s memory.
The league stands still to honor him
Across the NFL, tributes poured in from players, coaches, and fans who admired Mangold’s mix of toughness and humility. Jets coach Robert Saleh called him “the blueprint for what leadership in football should look like.”
