Josh Allen and Gabe Davis spent four seasons together in Buffalo. On Sunday, they were inseparable again — literally.
A helmet-bump celebration after Allen’s second rushing touchdown left the two stuck together at the facemask.
After crossing the goal line in a 44-32 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Allen jogged to the sideline and leaned in to celebrate with his longtime teammate and newly returned receiver. The helmets clicked, and wouldn’t unclick.
Allen tried to walk forward. Davis stopped him. Their facemasks were wedged together at the forehead, so the two tilted their heads and laughed before Allen and Davis finally removed their helmets — still fused together — allowing a staffer to pry them apart. Allen walked away smiling and flexing.
It was the first time all season a Bills receiver couldn’t get separation for Allen, and nobody complained.

Buffalo spent all week trying to brainstorm how to jump-start the passing offense. On Sunday, Allen and Davis put their heads together.
Davis, playing in his first NFL game in nearly a year after a meniscus injury, finished with three catches for 40 yards, with all three converting first downs. The 2020 fourth-round pick produced at least 35 catches, 500 yards and six touchdowns in each of his first four seasons with the Bills before leaving for Jacksonville in free agency in 2024.

Allen, meanwhile, delivered one of the most dominant performances of his career. He threw three touchdown passes and ran for three more — the second time he’s ever hit that combination, and he remains the only player in NFL history to do it. He also tied Cam Newton for the most career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (75) and passed Peyton Manning for the most total touchdowns before turning 30.
Davis was signed to Buffalo’s practice squad on Sept. 2 and spent eight weeks on practice-squad injured reserve before returning to practice. He was elevated on Sunday for his first game of the season, and his first time back in a Bills helmet was memorable.

Allen and Davis are reunited. They’re better together.
